Hello
I am an independent military history researcher currently compiling a glossary of all vessels sunk as a direct result of enemy action in immediate Australian waters during World War II. I am requesting if anyone may know where I can obtain an image of the 223 ton fishing trawler Dureenbee - sunk by the Japanese submarine I-175 on August 30 1942 off Moruya NSW. Under the command of Capt. William Reid three crewmwn were also killed. The trawler was built in 1917 at Newcastle - Walsh Island Fleet.
Any information on this vessel will be gratefully appreciated. I can be contacted at helveticapublishing@gmail.com or on 040 667 4697.
Also am seeking an image and further information on the SS Guatemala, a 5527ton Panamanian registered freighter torpedoed by the I-21 between Newcastle and Sydney in convoy CO.2 on June 12 1942, straggling after having departed Newcastle en route to Whyalla SA. Hope someone can assist, or know perhaps of anybody that may. Thank you
PS great website.
