Dad's mate Sam... Sam worked with Dad at the Plate Finishing Mill and then the Wagon Shop in early 1960 as a Wagon Repairer.

The rare photo is of the BHP's Jordon Spreader Steam Loco,and Dad's mate Sam, who later left BHP and owned the old Minmi Pub on the hill,
Sam was a well known Cricket Player in the Wallsend area. In America Jordan Spreaders were used for snow plows, the one at BHP was used for spreading railway ballast, they were operated by steam and later compressed air supplied by the loco.
