Can I make a suggestion regarding books on Walsh Island DY - try the Newcastle Regional Library, or the University of Newcastle Library, As far as State Records go the lady should try the Mitchell library in Sydney as they hold all of the state records. However a point here - to get the best result from any search she should be as specific as possible.

Bob

Can any of our members help Christine
I have just joined your site with the intention of seeking some information from the knowledgeable through the Forum. I may be just dim but for the life of me I can't figure out how to post a question - no button I could find. SO, here is my question and maybe you can help.
My grandfather, Thomas Robert Vaughan Hughes, worked as an accountant at Walsh Island, roughly between 1925 and 1930 (just as it was about to go down the gurgler), and I am trying to find some more info about the place other than the general story such as the one on your website. Do you know if anyone has written a more lengthy history. I would love to get hold of it if such a thing existed. There doesn't seem to be a lot out there. I imagine any records of his actual employment would be held somewhere in the NSW Gov archives if they exist at all today. Hoping you have an idea where I might look.
Regards
Christen Lawrence
If you can help email obisan@bigpond.com and I will pass it on, Aub
